"Piano In The Sky"
PROLOGUE
It was late one night many years ago,
I was drivin' my big Mack truck.
I saw a sign up ahead. I drove closer and read.
"All you can eat for a buck."
I went in to chow down and from the corner came the sound
of a piano that put me in a trance.
He was just plain folk, as tough as an oak,
And my how his fingers could dance.
Then he started to sing 'bout his life I guess,
and how he had made it such a mess.
He was makin' an apology from what I could tell.
His life, like mine, had seen a little hell.
So I'll sing it as he sang it,
His brave, bitter fight.
So you can have a bit of sympathy
for another man's plight.
VERSE 1
I touch my piano and everybody smiles.
My old fingers have played for many miles.
I knew Storyville, Kid Ory and old Satch.
I always played like an angel but I never had no scratch.
CHORUS
I'm a proud piano player.
Lord I'm ready to die.
I've had a beautiful life, now I'm tired.
Come take me to that Piano In The Sky.
VERSE 2
I'd sit at the piano and practice night and day.
So I could play at "Big Lil's" and help pay the family's way.
I did a lot of things a young boy shouldn't do.
My momma said, "Now son it's all gonna catch up with you."
CHORUS
VERSE 3
I met my Bessie in a back room at "Big Lil's".
She was the prettiest baby in all of Storyville.
The politician's came and laid their money down.
But later my Bessie and me would go to town.
CHORUS
VERSE 4
I love those rag time tunes with all my soul.
'Cause I was taught by the man who was known as Jelly Roll.
I played for kings and queens all over this world.
And when the lights went out there was always a pretty girl.
I ain't rich and maybe this will explain.
You see the devil filled my veins with hell and gave my momma pain.
My piano was my life, I can't deny.
So I guess I let a few important things go by.
CHORUS
EPILOGUE
I looked right at him as I waved goodbye.
I had a lump in my throat. He had a tear in his eye.
I walked out the door and I've never been the same.
And funny thing is, I never knew his name.
I've thought a lot about him since that amazin' night.
'Specially before bed as I shut out the light.
I look out my window, a way on up high.
And I say a little prayer to his
Piano In The Sky. |

"Make a Pass"
VERSE 1
I see you standin' there just like you're glued to the wall,
And I know you've been starin' my way.
Why don't you take a deep breath and get over here?
I bet I'll like what you have to say.
Sometimes a man's got to make the first move,
or else he misses the chance.
To meet a fabulous woman like me.
So get yourself across the floor and ask me to dance.
Come on and...
CHORUS
MAKE A PASS.
I know you'll think of something clever. Come on and
MAKE A PASS.
I'm not gonna wait forever. Come on and
MAKE A PASS.
I know you'll think of something clever. Come on and
MAKE A PASS.
I'm not gonna wait forever.
VERSE 2
I can tell you come from a nice family,
and you want to do what's right.
I'm sure you're sweet and shy, a lovely guy.
I've seen you standin' there squirmin' all night.
But the world belongs to the bold.
So I'm wondering what you're gonna do.
Before you know it the place will be closing.
So unglue yourself from the wall. I want to dance with you.
come on and...
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Things don't always come to the man who waits.
And I know you don't want to let me out the door.
So why don't you move you're feet?
You're the man I want to meet.
So now's the time to be a lion and roar.
Come on and...
CHORUS 2x & fade |

"I'll Just Flow With The Go"
PROLOGUE
As time goes by
the words we use
are changin' awfully fast.
A father, a son
a daughter, a mother
sometimes have trouble
talkin' to each other.
Expressions come, cliches go
What people mean can be hard to know.
But you I read a bit too well.
What's really happening is clear as a bell.
CHORUS
Some of my friends keep saying
Why don't you go with the flow?
But I reply
with a tear in my eye
I'll just flow with the go.
I'll just flow with the go.
VERSE 1
At first things seemed almost holy
Like the way you looked in my eyes.
You for me and me for you
It was our own quiet paradise.
But my heart became uneasy.
I just couldn't figure out why.
But by bits and pieces a pattern was revealed
and I felt like wanted to die.
CHORUS
INSTRUMENTAL
VERSE 2
You can't compromise on principle.
It's there in the great good book.
Right is right and wrong is wrong.
Just open to a page and look.
I don't need a fancy lawyer
to tell me what I should do.
I'm gonna take my love where it's appreciated,
and I've seen the last of you
CHORUS
